I am getting all ready for the show! We leave in 5 days and will be at the show until October 14th. I have completed several new drawings in preparation for the event. In additional to all that, I have been getting supplies ready, building a display setting, running back and forth to my framer, and applying to sell on Amazon Handmade. I took pictures of my studio to show them and also you. We moved into a larger studio to accommodate my new drawing desk. It has made a huge difference. I can now have my leather working tools out, my sewing table, my drawing table, and both my husband's and my computers.
In the back of the sewing table picture you can see my new Deep Waters picture. I have always wanted to practice doing water and realistic waves. This was a unique piece because it has no object, and no specific definition. I spend hours shading with no appreciable progress until completion. Also, unlike most of my pieces it is not necessarily detailed and not meant to be looked at closely. The artfulness of it is the initial impression from a distance: the idea that the jumble of charcoal smears is actually a photograph of water.
